the world of imaginative writing

THE GRANDFATHER STORY
Long ago before time itself, there was nothing but blackness, a sea of endless nothing. Great Ogaga looked about him, and what he saw filled him with distaste. So he set about putting tiny lights in the heavens above, which flickered like thousands of tiny lamps. This gave way to inspiration, and great Ogaga set about creating the world, we know today as Ala. He called his two children, Iga his son, who is the bright sun, and Omone his daughter, who is the moon. He gave Iga the task of watching over Ala during the day, and Omone the task of watching over Ala during the night. While Ogaga and his children worked, Ebie his enemy watched from his hiding place, with hatred in his heart. When Ogaga had finished creating Ala, he set about creating man, whom he called obi, and he created a woman to be Obi’s wife and helper. Happy with his creation Ogaga went away for a while. Then Ebie crept away from his hiding place. Cloaking himself in darkness, Ebie crept past Iga and Omone. His purpose was to destroy all that Ogaga had created. Yet Ebie was not powerful enough to undo all that Ogaga had done and so he poured all manner of evil into Ala, which plague our world even till this day. His evil task complete, Ebie fled. When Ogaga returned he saw the evil done to his new world. He knew his enemy had done this. Angered he sought to destroy Ala. Then he remembered Obi and his wife and had compassion on him. So instead he decided to help Obi, and so he made Obi a powerful warrior, and gave him wisdom to rule over all of Ala. And to Ebire his wife he gave intuition, and understanding. Together they fought against the evils. In the years of relative peace they brought forth ten mighty sons, Uba, Obu, Igi, Oke, Eke, Ozo, Kele, Oko, and Ari. The ten great tribes of Ala. And that is the history of our great lands.
